- La historia de la Inglaterra anglosajona cubre el periodo de la Alta Edad Media inglesa, desde el fin de la Britania romana y el establecimiento de los reinos anglosajones en el siglo V hasta la conquista normanda en 1066. Los siglos V y VI son conocidos arqueológicamente como la Britania posromana, o en historia popular como la «Edad Oscura»; desde el siglo VI, se desarrollan reinos más extensos que se denominan conjuntamente «heptarquía».
