La Operación Michael, también conocida como Ofensiva Ludendorff, fue una operación militar llevada a cabo por el Imperio Alemán en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Consistieron en una serie de ataques por parte de los alemanes a lo largo del Frente Occidental que comenzaron el 21 de marzo de 1918 desde la línea Hindenburg, en la localidad francesa de San Quintín. El frenético avance alemán, al mando del general Erich Ludendorff, permitió la retirada de tropas francesas y británicas atrincheradas, siendo el mayor progreso en territorio francés desde 1914. Los alemanes se habían dado cuenta de que la única oportunidad para obtener la victoria era derrotar a los aliados antes de que los abrumadores recursos humanos y materiales de los Estados Unidos fueran desplegados. El Tratado de Brest-Litovsk también permitió desplegar más de 50 divisiones que anteriormente se encontraban combatiendo en el Frente Oriental. Había cuatro ofensivas alemanas, con los siguientes nombres en código: Michael, Georgette, Gneisenau y Blücher-Yorck. Michael fue el ataque principal, que tenía la intención de romper las líneas aliadas, flanquear a las fuerzas británicas que controlaban el frente del río Somme y derrotar finalmente al ejército británico.
